CELEBRATING ONE YEAR OF LIFE OF EMILY

Celebrating one year of Life Of Emily

Life Of Emily has officially turned one and I wanted to make this post to thank each and every one of you for not only taking the time to read but also leaving me lovely comments to read.

I am slightly disappointed how irregular I have been with how often I post and wish to post so much more content in year 2 of ‘Life Of Emily’. I feel that blogging takes up a huge amount of time, not realizing this at first. The important thing is to keep going no matter what and I realize it's okay to put my blog on pause for a moment as I want to publish the best content I possibly can. I love being part of the blogging community with little Twitter chats here and there and can't forget how fabulous the readers are.

I know I have a long way to go, I really want to improve my writing skills, as well as photography and creativity.

Again, thank you for taking your time to visit my little corner of the internet and HAPPY BLOGAVERSARY TO ME!

BETTY BOX: REVIEW

29 July 2017

I love subscription boxes. The element of surprise makes opening them feel like your birthday or Christmas and is a great way to discover new brands, products and items you may not have picked up or bought otherwise.

Betty Box* is a monthly period subscription designed to make that time of the month that bit easy with a choice of delivery dates to suit you. Betty box is a teen version of the pink parcel. Betty Box isn't just a period subscription box is a place where you can find everything and everything from body, lifestyle and people to style.

Each box contains a mix of pads, tampons and liners depending on which you select when designing your box online. Inside there is a selection of beauty products, sweet treats for a much needed pick me up when you're feeling down on the time of the month.

Whats in the box?
I kindly got sent the July box and this is whats inside

Candy Kittens Sour Blueberry Gourmet sweets

Zero Crease Hair Tie

Balance me pure skin facial wash

Lisa angel shape bracelet

Korres bergamot and pear body milk

anatomicals deep conditioning hair pack

Scrub love coconut affair coffee scrub

L'oreal colour riche nail polish

Box for Late - Containing your chosen sanitary products

Box for Night- Containing thicker towels or tampons for at night.

How does it work?
You simply go onto the Betty box website and simply select what brand of tampons and/or pads you would like to receive in your Betty Box, you then choose your delivery date out of three options, then wait for your box to arrive each month. If you are unhappy which I doubt you will be then you can cancel your subscription at any time.

How much does the Betty box cost & Where can I subscribe?
You can get your 1st Betty box for just £6.99 and then £10.50 per month after which I think is still a great value!

Overall thoughts
I was really impressed with the Betty Box. It has got every thing you need for your period, it’s super easy and you don't even have to take a trip to the pharmacy or shop and you get a lot of sanitary products. I adore the design and colourful packaging.

MY TEENAGE SKIN CARE TIPS

6 May 2017

Hello everyone, Long time no see. Some of you might have been aware that my blog has not been working over the past month or so due to technical things I'm no tech expert so it took me a while to figure things out. But the important thing is now that it's working and you will get to see more posts from me. How exciting! Now to the reason you're probably here is my tips on sorting our your teenage skin.

Over the past couple of years, I have recently discovered that my skin probably isn't at its best and the troublesome ‘teenage skin’ has kicked in. If you are a teenager, like me you can probably relate to the struggles. Because of hormonal changes, it can be hard to keep it in charge from oiliness, acne and clogged pores it can be a pain to manage. I hope you guys find my tips helpful and let me know your favourite skin care products in the comments below as well as if you would like to see the products I use e.g. Skincare routine.

#1 Know your skin type
Before splurging out on expensive products it's probably best to know your skin type so you can get the best products for your skin. Personally, I have combination skin, meaning that I have an oily t- zone but other areas of my face can often get dry at times; but if you're unsure there are many ways online you can find out.

#2 Drink more water
One of the best tips, yet the oldest. Staying hydrated is vital to keeping healthy, hydrated skin and preventing breakouts and spots. No matter how much you cleanse your skin this tip is vital as your body needs nourishing on the inside. It also will help your skin glow, shine and be more soft appearing.

#3 Don't wear heavy foundations or makeup every day
If you are wearing a full face of makeup every single day you can really clog up your pores and this can lead to your skin breaking out. Avoid wearing super heavy foundations every day and only wear on special occasions or when you need a fuller coverage. I suggest using a lighter foundation for every day like the Bourjois healthy mix serum.

#4 Remove makeup
We can all be a bit forgetful at night especially when coming home late or staying over at a friends house to remove our makeup. Try to remove your makeup before going to bed as you could wake up with a few extra pimples in the morning! You could but a pack of facial wipes next to your bed to make sure you don't forget. Leaving it on your skin means it can not breathe and it can clog pores making them dirtier.

#5 Develop a small routine
This doesn't have to be anything fancy, infant some of the high-end products do just as a good job as the cheaper alternates. Eg. Use a cleanser every morning and a thick moisturiser at night on your skin. Your skin will be thanking you for spending that extra bit of time in the bathroom.

#6 Having a healthy and balanced diet
I must admit myself I'm not always the healthiest and do enjoy a bar of chocolate after school but good skin care comes with a good diet. Lots of fruit and vegetables will help you along the way.

#7 Sunscreen application
The sun can be extremely damaging to our skin as its known to cause wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes. When we do get the sun in the Uk it's important you apply sun protector and use products with SPF in them and do the same anytime your in contact with the sun.

#8 Be confident in your bear skin
It's part of growing up! Unfortunately a majority of teens will have to face the dreaded acne- prone skin but hopefully, these tips will help you out. Last but important tip be confident in yourself! Try your hardest not to worry or feel self- conscious about this no matter what people say, enjoy yourself and block the haters.

Do you have any other tips?

SMILE AT YOURSELF

12 March 2017

Many people in today society including myself sometimes always put the negatives before the positives about themselves and are putting themselves down for no necessary reasons. 99% of us will easily be able to pick something out they don't like about their appearance and are obsessed with changing it, however, these days this is the ultimate goal to look our best. Come new year how many of us put losing weight at the top of their new year's resolution, an awful lot in fact. People are becoming obsessed with the way they look and are constantly thinking about it turning into an unhealthy obsession. No matter what size, shape or weight people always just want more and aren't happy with themselves.

1. Get NAKED, without that sounding super strange I mean it, take your clothes off and have a shower, scrub your body from head to toe in your favorite body wash. Once you've showered take a look at yourself in the mirror and compliment yourself, I'm sure many of you will find this challenging but it's rewarding. Tell yourself how BEAUTIFUL you are. Smile at the curves, lines, muscles, dimples, hair and scars take in the positives who has time for negatives!

2. EXERCISE. The word you love or dread. If the only reason you exercise is to burn off that chocolate brownie you need to rethink and consider your gym membership. Going to the gym shouldn't be a workout! You should be going as it's something you enjoy or wanting to challenge yourself. Hours on end pushing you, straining muscle fibres just for the 'perfect body' will always fail in my eyes as your just getting yourself wrapped up in yourself. What even does the 'perfect body' mean? You should be moving your body because you want to feel stronger, happier, healthier, sleep better and live a longer life.

3. FOOD, that one really unhealthy meal you ate doesn't mean that you are going to all sudden put loads of weight on or does that super healthy meal you ate mean you are going to shed loads of pounds. It's not about what you eat, its how much you eat of it. Enjoy what you eat as your less likely to binge.

4. Finally, SMILE considers all the above and complement yourself. Accepting yourself may be hard but it worth it to be clear headed and happier about yourself. There's so much more to life than comparing you to others feeling slug all the time. Take care of yourself and live a happier, healthier life.
